Information on Volunteering

Advocacy Volunteers

We are currently recruiting advocacy workers for Glasgow, Falkirk and Edinburgh, along with befrienders for Edinburgh, Grampian, Falkirk and Inverness.

Counselling volunteers

We are recruiting counselling volunteers for Forth Valley, Scottish Borders, and a telephone counsellor for the Highlands.

Our current recruitment is open now and applicants will be invited to a Selection evening in September. There will be essential training of 2 Saturdays and one evening a week for 6 weeks, getting you ready to work directly with people in December. We provide counselling, advocacy work, befriending, group work facilitation, administration support and a Helpline service. We have Development Workers across the whole of Scotland and their work is very much supported by the volunteers who work alongside.

We offer an excellent training package which you are required to attend before beginning work with survivors of abuse in care and we have a section providing you with some feedback from other volunteers. We hope this gives you a sense of the positive experiences volunteers have working with ICSSS.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please refer to the Volunteer letter and Volunteer Application Pack.  The Diversity and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form can be found here.
